The Tim Conway Comedy Hour / Show [#2]
(comedy-variety)
(CBS Primetime, 1970)
[this was the third of five efforts to provide a vehicle for
the talented comedian and star of "McHale's Navy" after he
left the great ensemble cast of "The Carol Burnett Show";
Tim Conway hosted a show which combined comedy skits and music
including comedians MacLean Stevenson and Sally Struthers,
The Hansen Dancers and The Jimmy Joyce Singers;
Conway also tried "Rango" (a 1967 western spoof), "The
Tim Conway Show" (a 1970 sitcom); "The Tim Conway Show"
(a 1980 comedy-variety show); and "Ace Crawford, Private
Eye" (a 1983 sitcom)]
Theme: "Fine And Dandy", from the 1930 musical
"Fine And Dandy"
[this Broadway 2-beat warhorse became a cliché of a
show business theme used on various variety shows as
"walk-on" or "play-on" music]
