This Is The Life / The Fisher Family / Patterns For Living (religious anthology)

    (Syndicated, 1952 as "This Is The Life";
     Syndicated, 1953 as "The Fisher Family";
     Syndicated, 1961 as "This Is The Life: Patterns For Living";
     NBC Sunday Mornings, 1983 as "This Is The Life")

    [The Roland Reed unit at Hal Roach Studios which had produced
    "My Little Margie" and other low-budget series was contracted
     by the Luthern Church - Missouri Synod (known as the LCMS)
     to produce a religious dramatic anthology series called
    "This Is The Life" for national syndication;

     Its title -- ending with the words "The Life" -- may have
     been a conscious (or unconscious) play on words with the
     popular radio biography seres "This Is Your Life" had just
     made its network television debut in 1952;

     Even Alexander Laszlo, who had composed music for "This Is
     Your Life" was hired in the early days to provide some cues
     used behind episodes of this series;

     The various topical subjects of the stories were daring for
     the times, and always involved the intervention of a Lutheran
     minister for guidance in resolving the situation at the end;

     Dramatic Anthology content had been produced within several
     TV series sponsored by various churches including portions of
     "Lamp Unto My Feet" (1948 - 1979) sponsored by the Catholic
     Church; and "This Is The Answer" (1956 - 1960) sponsored by
     the Southern Baptist church;

     One spinoff of this series was made in the 1950s called
     "The Fisher Family" consisting of reruns of early episodes;

     Years later, the Lutheran Church produced another series
     called "This Is The Life: Patterns For Living";

     And in 1983, the concept was revived again for NBC-TV
     Sunday morning broadcasts]
