(ABC Primetime, 1980 - 1984)
[The next season after NBC's "Real People" (1979 - 84) began
the "reality show" craze of the 1980s (that emulated the
"Candid Camera" approach to "catching people in the act of
being themselves")...ABC created this series which included
some staged stunts that turned out badly, and even a few that
later turned out to be bogus frauds;
But like "Real People", "That's Incredible" was also a solid
ratings getter and relatively cheap to produce; so until the
mid-1980s when both shows fizzled, both were on the air; the
co-hosts were former football star Fran Tarkenton, Cathy Lee
Crosby, and John Davidson in a decidedly non-musical role;
It was never clear why so many hosts were needed to introduce
the segments (after all this was hardly "60 Minutes"), but
that's the way they did it...which was rather incredible! :-)]
