Terry And The Pirates (adventure, starring John Baer)

     (Syndicated, 1952)

     [based upon a newspaper comic strip created by Milt Caniff about
      an American adventurer living in the Far East; the supporting cast
      included Gloria Saunders as the evil "Dragon Lady", and William
      Tracy played Terry's business partner-pilot, "Hotshot Charlie";
      Jack Reitzen played Terry's oriental sidekick "Chopstick Joe";

      During its first-run season, Canada Dry provided nationwide

Main Title Theme 1: "Blood And Thunder/Just In Time"

    [MUTEL library title variations...
     aka: "Just In Time (FI 413)";
     aka: "Blood and Thunder (FI 414)";

     ASCAP title variations:
     aka: "Superman Cues";
     aka: "Blood And Thunder";

     MUTEL library titles courtesy contributor T. Perrone and library
     music expert and soundtrack producer P. Mandell, who note that the
     MUTEL category "Fight" is indicated by the "FI" prefix above;

     Original BMI credit for this series is "Terry And The Pirates-BG Cues"
     by Georges Tzipine; Tzipine was the conductor of re-recordings of
     B-picture cues in France commissioned by David Chudnow for his MUTEL
     ("Music For Television") music service in the 1950s; and many of these
     credits were for diversion of royalties to packager MUTEL;

     Since MUTEL was hired to provide music for the "Superman" television
     series, and ASCAP lists the "Blood and Thunder" title variation as a
     variation under "Superman Cues", it would appear that this was a
     background agitato ("fight") cue originally composed by Paul Sawtell
     for use on "Superman" which was in production at the same time, and
     also used as the Main Title (Opening THEME) for "Terry and the Pirates"]

               heard in the first couple of seasons of the
               "Superman" TV series. Some of the cues reproduced
               from the MUTEL were also used as TV THEMEs for other
               classic series including "Boston Blackie" and
               "Terry and the Pirates", etc.]

Theme 2: "Ambushes Everywhere"

    [THEME title from article on TV Themes in "TV Guide" magazine;

     Publisher credit from a contemporary internal BMI THEME list courtesy
     library music expert and soundtrack producer P. Mandell; BMI credit
     is "Terry And The Pirates-BG Cues" by Georges Tzipine;

     Tzipine was the conductor of re-recordings of B-picture cues in France
     commissioned by David Chudnow for his MUTEL ("Music For Television")
     music service in the 1950s; so it is not known who the original
     composer of this THEME/cue was...

     "Ambushes Everywhere" may be the title of the track in the MUTEL
     (Music For Television) production music library although a specific
     credit for it was not found in BMI...and it is also possible that
     this was the same music as the Main Title above "Blood and Thunder/
     Just In Time" by Paul Sawtell]
