Sword of Freedom (adventure, starring Edward Purdom)

    (Syndicated, 1957)

[an extravagantly lavish series of sets were the backdrop for
this tale of the Italian Renaissance; Edward Purdom starred
as the lead character named "Marco del Monte" (no relation
to Del Monte vegetables we assume :-) The character was a
painter by day and freedom fighter by night; his nemesis
was the Medici family, suppresive patrons of the arts; And
for good measure, the character of Count Machiavelli was
portrayed by Kenneth Hyde; the love interest Angelica was
played by Adrienne Corri; The series was filmed in Europe
and distributed in the U.S. by Official Films]
