Sing Along With Mitch (musical variety)

    (NBC Primetime, 1961 - 1964;
     NBC Reruns, 1966)

    [Mitch Miller, symphonic oboist who became head of Artists &
     Repertoire (A & R) for Columbia Records, hosted this TV series
     which revived the "Community Sing" concept that used to be shown
     in movie theaters ("follow the bouncing ball") as lyrics to old
     songs were projected on the screen; Surprisingly popular, this
     feature began on the variety series "Ford Startime" in the 1959-60
     season before becoming its own hour-long series that lasted 3 years,
     and was rerun on the network three years after that.]
