(NBC Primetime, 1949 - 1951)
[aka: "The Morton Downey Show";
aka: "The Roberta Quinlan Show";
This 15-minute musical series week preceding the 8pm Evening
News on the East Coast;
On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, during the first few months
the host was vocalist Morton Downey (Sr., not to be confused
with his son, who was a brash talk show host during the 1980s);
On Tuesday and Thursday nights during this same period, the
show featured vocalist Roberta Quinlan with Jan August and
his orchestra; After the first few months, Downey left and
Roberta Quinlan headlined the show all five nights after
that for the next two and a half years;
a 120-piece chorus known as the "Mohawk Choir" joined them
during the holiday season on this series -- sponsored by the
makers of Mohawk Carpets, and their U.S. distributor in
Erie, New York]
