The Long, Hot Summer (serial drama)

     (ABC Primetime, 1965 - 1966)

     [flush from the success of the nighttime serial drama "Peyton
      Place", ABC attempted to repeat the formula using another
      20th-Century Fox motion picture drama as the basis for this
      series; the 1958 motion picture was based upon a William
      Faulkner southern novel of the same title;

      the cast for this drama included actors Edmond O'Brien, Dan
      O'Herlihy, Roy Thinnes, Nancy Malone, Ruth Roman and Lana Wood;

      In 1985 a TV mini-series based upon the novel/movie starring
      Don Johnson was attempted, but got unfavorable criticism.]
