[Popular Los Angeles Disc Jockey Lloyd Thaxton decided he wanted
to have a dance show like Dick Clark's "American Bandstand"; So
he started it locally on L.A. Channel 13 in 1962 and then tried
to syndicate it; Thaxton was not just interested in rock artists;
He also mixed in folk singers and a few country artists and even
novelty acts as well; And Thaxton himself played guitar and piano;
But the kids didn't quite know what to make of this admixture
outside of Los Angeles...]
