(CBS Sunday Mornings, 1955 - 1959)
[Long before CBS famed show "Sunday Morning" aired on
Sunday Mornings with Charles Kurault looking out over
the issues and culture across the whole country, this
CBS series broadcast on Sunday Mornings looked inward,
on the issues and culture and politics of New York;
Its thoughtful treatment and intelligent documentaries
did set the tone for what was to follow however...and
was a predecessor on which the broader series was built]
[Mitch Leigh was a versatile New York jazz composer who
composed jingle themes including "The Dis-advantages
Of You" for Benson & Hedges 100s cigarettes (a slinky
instrumental tune made into a 1960s pop chart single),
and the famous broadway musical "Man Of La Mancha"; he
also founded a small but well-done production library
called "The Century Library of Music and Sound"; his
brother was pianist Dick Hyman]
