Campbell Playhouse // Campbell Soundstage // TV Soundstage (dramatic anthology)

    (NBC Primetime, 1952 as "Campbell Playhouse/Campbell Soundstage";
     NBC Primetime, 1953 as "TV Soundstage" (live);
     NBC Primetime, 1954 as "Campbell Summer Soundstage")

    [The Campbell Soup Company sponsored a dramatic anthology
     series used as a summer replacement on NBC three summers
     in a row, in productions starring James Dean and others;
     It's first title was "Campbell Playhouse" which was soon
     changed to "Campbell Soundstage", then "TV Soundstage" and
     it's last season title was "Campbell Summer Soundstage";

     Although for most of its run the dramas were produced on
     film, in 1953 the series was slotted in to take over for
     the cancelled "Aldrich Family" and a live format was tried
     which reverted to film the next season]

Theme: "The Lost Weekend Theme"

    [aka: "The Lost Weekend"; and
     aka: "Theme from 'The Lost Weekend'";

     THEME verified by TV theme collector R. Clark; this was the
     Main Title theme for a 1945 Billy Wilder-directed drama which
     starred Ray Milland and Jane Wyman; it was one of the first
     frank depictions of the evils of alcoholism on the motion
     picture screen]
