The Bold Ones (rotating drama)

    ("The Doctors":     NBC Primetime, 1969 - 1972;
     "The New Doctors": NBC Primetime, 1972 - 1973;
     "The Lawyers":     NBC Primetime, 1969 - 1972;
     "The Protectors":  NBC Primetime, 1969 - 1970;
     "The Senator":     NBC Primetime, 1970 - 1971)

    [The original concept was for high-quality thoughtful rotating
     drama series set in several prestigious professions -- doctors,
     attorneys, a senator, and "protectors" (about a Police Chief and
     District Attorney).

     The most long-lasting of the four was the series "The Doctors" which
     was originally named "Bold Ones -- The Doctors". It starred actors
     E. G. Marshall, David Hartman and John Saxon; During its last season,
     it was called "The New Doctors" when Robert Walden joined the cast
     and John Saxon left;

     The "Bold Ones -- The Lawyers" were played by Burl Ives, James Farantino
     and Joseph Campanella;

     The "Bold Ones -- The Senator" starred Hal Holbrook as an idealistic
     U.S. Senator;

     The "Bold Ones -- The Protectors" were played by Leslie Nielsen (who
     later went on to star in the farcical "Airplane" movies) in the serious
     role of a Chief of Police, and Hari Rhodes as a District Attorney.]
