Riverboat (western, starring Darren McGavin)

     (NBC Primetime, 1959 - 1961)

Theme 1 (First Season): "Riverboat Theme"

[aka: "Riverboat"; much praised as a precursor to the
film theme for "The Magnificent Seven", also written by
Elmer Bernstein, and licensed for use in the "Marlboro Man"
     TV commercials.

Both of Bernstein's THEMEs use a very characteristic
Western accompaniment motif that is highly rhythmic, and
was later much admired and imitated.]
