Gidget / The New Gidget (sitcom)

     (ABC Primetime, 1965 - 1966, starring Sally Fields;
      Syndicated, 1986 - 1988,    starring Caryn Richman)

     [this light bit of TV fluff starring Sally Fields
      was based upon the 1959 Sandra Dee beach bunny movies of
      the same name; Gidget hung out with California beach
      boys while her boyfriend was away at college...her
      character was the younger sister of an over-protective
      older sister, and her father was a college professor;
      sort of a charmed life which was everyone's California
      dream in the mid-sixties; The Columbia Pictures movie
      had a title song written by Fred Karger (music) and
      Patti Washington (lyrics); but the 1965 TV series
      commissioned an original theme from the veteran sitcom
      songwriting team of Howard Greenfield and Jack Keller.

      In 1986, a sequel was attempted called "The New Gidget"
      starring unknown Caryn Richman]
