Daktari (adventure, starring Marshall Thompson)

    (CBS Primetime, 1966 - 1969;
     CBS Saturdays, 1970s morning re-runs)

    [This family series was a jungle adventure about a veterinarian
     and conservationist played by Marshall Thompson (the Swahili
     word for Doctor was "Daktari"); filmed in Los Angeles area
     park reserve "Africa, U.S.A." established by Ivan Tors who
     had produced the motion picture "Clarence, The Cross-Eyed
     Lion" in 1965 from which this series was derived, Daktari
     aired first on prime time, but had a healthy re-run life
     during the 1970s on Saturday Mornings;

     the TV series "Daktari" had no connection to "Hatari", a 1962
     jungle animal movie starring John Wayne, scored by Henry Mancini
     which yielded the "Baby Elephant Walk"]
