Best Sellers (rotating NBC mini-series)

    (NBC Primetime, 1976 - 1977)

    [aka: "NBC Best Sellers";

     This was the umbrella title for a format NBC attempted to create
     in 1976 -- consisting of several rotating mini-series based upon
     best-selling novels, each of which was told in 6 - 8 episodes;

     It was in some ways an attempt to update the dramatic anthology
     format that had worked so well in the Classic TV era of the 1950s;

     But despite some very high production values, this ambitious
     experiment from MCA-Universal came to an end after only one
     season;

     The mini-series included:

     Taylor Caldwell's "Captains and The Kings";
     Anton Meyer's "Once an Eagle";
     Norman Bogner's "Seventh Avenue";
     Robert Ludlum's "The Rhinemann Exchange"]
