[An animated series based upon the syndicated comic strip
drawn by Bob Montana; It constantly changed names (as if that
would make a difference in ratings.) Despite the constant name
and format tweaking, the series was popular with kids in its
many incarnations for about a decade.

There were some format shifts that worked. In its efforts to be
contemporary (for the '60's) Archie had a band. Studio singers
created the music, which sold surprisingly well on pop charts,
especially the hit song "Sugar, Sugar"; By the centennial year
of 1976 CBS had had enough, and ended its run.

In 1977 the show returned after a year's absence when NBC
decided to take a crack at the concept -- broadening the
appeal by elevating Sabrina, a female character and others
as time went on. Two years later the franchise had run out
of steam, and it was gone into syndication by 1978.

In 1987 NBC attempted to revise the series yet again, and
kept it alive for another two years, changing its name to
the absurd "Bang-Shang Lalapalooza Show" before it finally
    died.]
