The Eighty-Seventh [87th] Precinct (police drama, with Robert Lansing and Norman Fell)

    (NBC Primetime, 1961 - 1962)

    [a gritty police drama that foreshadowed such New York cop
     series as "N.Y.P.D. Blue" by a few decades, this was based
     upon a series of novels written from the 1950s to the early
     1969s by Ed McBain (pseudonym of Evan Hunter);

     Unfortunately the realization of the characters into TV scripts
     was less original, as the show seemed to be more of a cliche
     of its times so it only lasted one season]
